Medicare Prescription Drug Reminder
The MAY 15th deadline to sign up for the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Program is fast approaching! Once the May 15th deadline passes, seniors who have not enrolled in the plan will be subject to a 1% per month lifetime penalty on their premium if they choose to enroll in the drug plan at a later date. For example, were a senior to enroll 15 months past May 15, the recipient would pay an additional 15% fee on his or her premium for life.
Seniors who have not yet enrolled in the Medicare Part D program and need assistance in choosing the plan that is right for them may call the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services at 1-800-Medicare. Information is also available locally through Sage PLUS at (808) 586-7299.
Healthcare, especially the quality of care for our elderly and low-income population, is important for all people of Hawaii. Please take this opportunity to remind a friend, parent, grandparent, or neighbor of this important deadline.
