  Supporting Small Business

Entrepreneurs and small businesses are the heart of the American spirit of innovation and creativity. After visiting with hundreds of small businesses throughout the Ninth District, it's become even more important to me that we foster the growth of small businesses and ensure that they compete on an even playing field.

I support estate tax relief so that family-owned farms and businesses can be passed down from generation to generation, and tax relief that helps to spur small business investment and job growth. Small businesses also have a tougher time dealing with the regulations and paperwork required of them to do business with the federal government, and we should make common sense changes so that small businesses can compete on a level playing field with large corporations. That's why I host an annual "Procurement Workshop" where small businesses can learn more about doing business with the federal government.

Undoubtedly, the value that small businesses contribute to a community is immeasurable. I am firmly committed to working with small businesses, helping them work with federal and local governments, and encouraging their investment so that our economy continues to grow.
