WASHINGTON, D.C.-U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, and U.S. Sen. David Vitter, R-Metairie, today announced that the United States Dept. of Agriculture will award a Rural Development grant totaling $33,250 to the Kilbourne Volunteer Fire District.
The grant will be used toward the purchase of a new fire engine for the Town of Kilbourne. The purchase of this fire engine will enable the Town of Kilbourne to provide fire protection for the town and surrounding areas.
"This grant will help protect the residents living in the Town of Kilbourne and surrounding areas," Alexander said.
"Our firefighters are called on to help save lives, and it is our job as legislators to secure funding for these important projects."
Vitter added, "Our local communities count on firefighters to protect their homes and property. I am pleased that the U.S. Department of Agriculture made this grant available to the Kilbourne Volunteer Fire District so they can buy a new fire engine to more efficiently handle emergency situations in the community."
