ALEXANDER, VITTER ANNOUNCE TWO HOMELAND SECURITY GRANTS FOR CENTRAL LA FIRE DEPARTMENTS

WASHINGTON, D.C.- U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, and U.S. Sen. David Vitter, R-Metairie, today announced Homeland Security grants for two fire departments in Central Louisiana.

The Alexandria Fire Department has been awarded $230,983 for operations and firefighter safety. The Allen Parish Fire Department (District 5) has been awarded $56,619 for operations and firefighter safety.

"Our firefighters are often called to risk their own lives to save others," Alexander said. "Sen. Vitter and I realize that these grants help train our firefighters and provide better equipment for them to help save lives."

Vitter added, "Our local communities count on firefighters to protect their homes and property. I am pleased that the Department of Homeland Security made this grant available to the Alexandria Fire Department so they can more efficiently and safely handle emergency situations in the community."
