ALEXANDER, VITTER ANNOUNCE USDA GRANT FOR SARDIS WATER SYSTEM, INC.

U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, and U.S. Sen. David Vitter, R-Metairie, today announced that the United States Department of Agriculture will award a $233,000 grant to the Sardis Water System, Inc. in Farmerville, LA.

The grant, which is listed under the Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant program, will be used to construct a new 250 gallons-per-minute water well, a 330 gallons-per-minute booster station, mains, valves, and a 150,000-gallon ground storage tank.

As a result of this funding, Sardis Water System, Inc. will be able to provide a new water supply to meet the high demand for water along the northeastern segment of the system.

"This area in Union Parish needs this grant to help provide quality living conditions for those residents using the Sardis Water System," Alexander said. "Clean, safe drinking water must be made available to all areas and this grant helps make that goal possible."

Vitter added, "I'm pleased the U.S. Department of Agriculture made this grant available to Union Parish. This grant will ensure that communities like Farmerville will be able to meet the high demands for fresh, clean drinking water."
