Alexander to hold two medals ceremonies

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, announced today that he will hold two medals ceremonies for Gordon Watson (deceased) and Larche Washer (deceased) beginning at 10 a.m., Monday, April 4th.

Both ceremonies will be held in Alexander's Monroe District Office, located at 1900 Stubbs Ave., Suite B.

Cheryl Dearman, Watson's daughter, will accept her father's medals. Watson, who served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 29, 1943 to Dec. 10, 1945, earned the following medals: Purple Heart with Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster; Bronze Star Medal; Good Conduct Medal; Presidential Unit Citation; American Campaign Medal; European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Triple Bronze Star Attachment; World War II Victory Medal; Combat Medical Badge 1st Award; Belgian Forragere and the World War II Honorable Service Lapel Button

Jewell Washer will receive the medals on behalf of her late husband, Lt. Col. Larche Washer, who served in the U.S. Air Force from Oct. 10 1947 to July 31, 1969. Lt. Col. Washer earned the following medals: Purple Heart; Air Force Commendation Medal; Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with Silver Oak Leaf Cluster; Good Conduct Medal; Commendation Ribbon; Korean War Service Medal; American Campaign Medal; European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Bronze Star; World War II Victory Medal; National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star; Korean Service Medal; Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon and the Prisoner of War Medal.
