ALEXANDER ANNOUNCES OVER $2.7 MILLION IN NEW HEALTH CENTER GRANTS

SECURED FUNDING TO HAVE DIRECT IMPACT ON HEALTH CARE IN THE 5TH DISTRICT

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, announced today that the United States Department of Health and Human Services will award $2.7 million in federal funding to four new health centers in the 5th Congressional District.

The centers awarded grants, as part of 105 new health centers nation-wide, are the Innis Community Health Center, Innis; Primary Health Services Center, Monroe; Catahoula Parish Hospital District No. 2, Sicily Island; and the Tensas Community Health Center, St. Joseph.

"I have made health care one of my top priorities throughout my three decades of public service," Alexander said.

"This is good news for the 5th District and the state of Louisiana. Improving our nation's health care services is a major step forward toward improving our overall quality of life. The residents in the 5th District deserve the best health care possible, and I believe that these grants will help improve health care for our rural district."

HHS states that over 105 communities with new health care centers will receive $63 million in federal funding.

It is also estimated that 632,000 Americans nationwide, including many uninsured, will receive primary health care services.

"We've been working very hard to bring more federal dollars to community health centers in Louisiana and will continue to do so," Alexander added.
