ALEXANDER ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF CONGRESSIONAL ART CONTEST

STUDENTS SHOWCASE ARTISTIC TALENTS TO 5TH DISTRIC

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, is proud to announce that Danny Hudson, a senior at Buckeye High School, won first place in the annual Congressional Art Competition, An Artistic Discovery.

Caitlin Medley, a junior at Neville High School, finished second and Matthew LeJeune, a senior at Tioga High School, placed third.

The annual Congressional Art Competition, An Artistic Discovery, is a nationwide art contest that provides Members of Congress the opportunity to showcase the creative work of local high school students.

Hudson will be allowed to hang his work in the Cannon House Office Building Tunnel. Thousands of people use this tunnel on their way to our Nation's Capitol Building and view the spectacular artwork from high school students all over the country.

"This competition allows young artists a chance to put their creativity and talent on display for people all over the country to see," Alexander said. "I enjoy being part of a contest that encourages young students to showcase their artistic talents."

The Congressional Art Competition was created in 1982 and is in its 23rd year.

For more information, contact the Monroe Congressional District Office at (318) 322-3500 or the Masur Museum of Art at 318-329-2237.
