Alexander Announces U.S. Military Academies Appointments

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander today announced that two students from the 5th Congressional District have officially accepted appointments to United States Military academies.

Zach Wilson, currently a senior at Ouachita Christian School in Monroe, has accepted an offer of appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy. Wilson is the son of William Gordon Jr. and Mary Wilson of Monroe.

Peter Horban, currently a senior at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts in Natchitoches, has accepted an offer of appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy. Horban is the son of Blaise Horban and Lynn Pompetti, both of Alexandria.

Alexander, who nominated the students, said their appointments are a credit to their accomplishments in their schools and communities.

"It was an honor to nominate these two fine young men, and I am proud that they have chosen to accept their appointments," Alexander said.

"I am certain the experiences they will have in the next few years will prepare them for successful futures."

Alexander will hold a special awards ceremony, to be announced at a later date, to honor the students.
