WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander and U.S. Sen. David Vitter announced today that the Village of Pine Prairie will receive a federal grant of $200,000 to construct a new community center, which will serve as an Office of Emergency Preparedness evacuation shelter in addition to serving as a center for public meetings and events.
“This community center will not only give the people of Pine Prairie a place to hold local functions, but it will also position the community to assist those who may be in need of shelter during a natural disaster,” Alexander said.
“This new community center will be a great addition to Pine Prairie,” said Vitter. “Being prepared for disasters and emergencies is crucial for every community, and this new center will help Pine Prairie achieve that.”
The grant is provided under the Community Facilities Grant Program at the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development
