Alexander, Vitter Announce Grant Funding for Winn Parish

Washington, D.C. –U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander and U.S. Sen. David Vitter today announced that Winn Parish will receive an Economic Development Administration grant in the amount of $1.5 million to make improvements to the area’s wastewater, electrical and roadway infrastructure deemed necessary by JELD-WEN, a company that has committed to establishing a facility in the area.

JELD-WEN, a molded door skin manufacturing company which uses dull wood as its raw material, will benefit loggers and sawmills in the region and is expected to produce 75 new jobs for the area, averaging $25,000 to $35,000 a year.

“Improving infrastructure is a surefire way to entice companies into investing in an area,” Alexander said, “I am pleased to see federal dollars being used to assist this region in creating a more business-friendly environment.”

“This funding will provide important infrastructure improvements in Winnfield,” Vitter said.  “Infrastructure development is crucial to encouraging business growth, and this funding will help the north Louisiana economy continue to grow.”
