Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, today announced that the Allen Parish Tourist Commission will receive United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development grant totaling $47,520.
The funds will be used to install an elevator in the Leatherwood Museum House in Oakdale, La., which is currently under renovation. As a result of this project, museum visitors will have improved access to the facility, and the museum will meet Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility requirements.
“Louisiana is rich with culture and history,” Alexander said. “It is exciting to see local areas take an interest in creating museums to commemorate the local history and to educate the public, and I am thankful that Leatherwood Museum House has been given a grant that will enable them to make this necessary improvement to the facility. ”
