Alexander Announces Grant Funding for Allen Parish
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, announced today that the Allen Parish Police Jury will receive a Delta Regional Authority Grant totaling $150,000.
The funding will go toward the reconstruction of Pawnee Road from U.S. Highway165 to the MARTO plant main entrance, approximately 961 feet in length. The project will provide needed transportation infrastructure to allow Pawnee Road to accommodate 250-300 heavy trucks, 24 hours a day, 350 days per year, which is required by MARTO and IESI landfill to maintain and expand operations.
“This project will not only improve the quality of Pawnee Road, but it will also encourage job growth at MARTO, which expects to add new positions as a result of the project,” Alexander said.
