On February 11th, Congressman Al Green joined his fellow Members for a townhall
discussion titled “Disaster Relief and Public Policy: Are We Being Served?” The
event was hosted by the Congressional Tri-Caucus, which is composed of Congressional
Members from the Congressional Asian Pacific Islander Caucus, the Congressional
Black Caucus, and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. The meeting focused on
the existing challenges and the perspectives of various local community leaders
including: evaluating cultural competency in relief efforts; ensuring the civil
rights of immigrant communities; assessing the local economic and political
impact, including assisting displaced workers; and assessing the long term
impact of the ongoing demographic population shifts on political participation
and representation.
