Officials gather to announce federal funding for Virtua's new state-of-the-art campus
VOORHEES, NJ – Today, Congressman Andrews joined Richard P. Miller, President & CEO of Virtua at the site of a remarkable new addition to South Jersey’s renowned health care network that will modernize and advance our region’s already impressive medical services. Rep. Washington D.C. – On Tuesday, the House passed two key measures for our veterans. The first, the Veterans Health Care Budget Reform and Transparency Act (H.R. 1016), authorizes Congress to approve investments in Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical care one year in advance to provide time for the VA to plan how to deliver the best care to an increasing number of veterans with increasingly complex medical conditions. The Second, entitled the Women Veterans Health Care Improvement Act (H.R. 1211), will expand and improve VA health care services for the 1.8 million women who have bravely served their country. Specifically, H.R. 1211 provides women veterans with increased access to medical care for newborn children, as well as creating a new pilot program for child care services. Additionally, the bill provides enhancements for PTSD and VA sexual trauma programs.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last week, the chairmen of the three committees with jurisdiction over health policy in the U.S. House of Representatives unveiled their discussion draft for health care reform that would reduce out-of-control costs, improve choices and competition for consumers and expand access to quality, affordable health care for all Americans. The discussion draft would guarantee that almost every American is covered by a health care plan that is both affordable and offers quality, standard benefits by 2019.
