Help Is Available for Customers of IndyMac
Posted by: Adam Schiff (07-17-2008, 03:24 PM)

A lot of residents of the 29th District have questions about the FDIC takeover of IndyMac Federal Bank.  My office stands available to help answer any questions you may have.  Here's some info on the issue:   Beginning on Monday, July 14, IndyMac Federal Bank, FSB’s 33 branches will observe normal operating hours and will continue to offer full banking services, including on-line banking.  For additional information, the FDIC has established a toll-free number for customers of IndyMac Federal Bank, FSB.  The toll-free number is 1-866-806-5919 and will operate daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.   Bank hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.   Customers also may visit the FDIC's Web site at http://www.fdic.gov/bank/individual/failed/IndyMac.html for further information.  If you are experiencing any difficulties with this issue, please feel free to contact Congressman Schiff’s district office at (626) 304-2727.

A Visit to Armenia
Posted by: Adam Schiff (06-17-2008, 03:23 PM)

In late May, I had the opportunity to lead a Congressional delegation on a trip to four strategically important Central and South Asian nations – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.  Rep. Wayne Gilchrest of Maryland and Rep. Allyson Schwartz of Pennsylvania joined me in the delegation, along with a few senior staff members.  It was a whirlwind of a trip, but we got the chance to meet with senior leaders in all four countries, and to thank some of our troops and foreign service officers serving in Afghanistan and elsewhere.  Along the way, I took as many pictures as possible, some of which you’ll see here.  Check the blog in coming days for more posts from Afghanistan and Pakistan.  As always, I’m looking forward to your comments and questions, so make sure to use the comment feature, or send me a message directly by clicking here.

A Great Victory for Southern California: The Rim of the Valley Study Act Passes
Posted by: Adam Schiff (05-09-2008, 01:39 PM)

After a seven year long effort, the President signed a measure into law which I authored called the Rim of the Valley Corridor Study Act. This legislation will direct the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a study to analyze an expansion of the Santa Monica Mountains Recreation Area to include the Rim of the Valley. These are the mountains that surround the 29th Congressional District and neighboring areas.

Celebrating Earth Day Through Action
Posted by: Adam Schiff (05-08-2008, 04:00 PM)

Last week, I spoke on the floor of the House to celebrate Earth Day, which took place on April 22nd.  In my speech, which you can watch below, I emphasized that Earth Day not only a time to reflect on the importance of the environment, but it's also a time to think about what we can do, in our own lives, to preserve our incredible planet for future generations.  As a parent of two young children, I feel strongly that we must be responsible stewards of the environment for them, and for generations to come.
