Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Posted by: Tim Ryan (06-09-2009, 10:14 AM)
With the stress that so many Americans have and are facing with the current state of the economy, I feel that our society has much to gain by integrating mindfulness-based stress reduction into our health care and education systems. With direct correlations to well-being and concentration, a focus on stress-alleviating procedures can have a real impact on improving the lifestyles of Americans.

Questioning Sec. Sebelius on Reducing Unplanned Pregnancies and Abortions Posted by: Tim Ryan (06-05-2009, 04:47 PM)
In May, I appeared on MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews to discuss abortion reduction initiatives I plan on introducing this session. Standing up for American Manufacturers Posted by: Tim Ryan (06-03-2009, 11:47 AM)
Yesterday, I testified before the U.S. International Trade Commission in support of a Section 421 petition against the flood of Chinese tires into the domestic market. From 2004-2008, we have experienced a surge of Chinese tires that is equal to an increase of nearly 300 percent in dollar terms, and over 200 percent by volume over 2003 levels. Meanwhile, U.S. production of tires has declined by 25 percent and four plants around the country have closed. This is compelling evidence that China is dumping tires into the U.S. domestic market—a clear violation of its World Trade Organization accession agreement.

We must do everything we can to keep it running. Millions of jobs are dependent on our ability to keep them going.

Securing Health Care for Our Retirees Posted by: Tim Ryan (05-21-2009, 03:39 PM)
This week I co-sponsored the Emergency Retiree Health Benefits Protection Act of 2009. The bill is an effort to protect the 18.5 million retirees in America who earned health care benefits in retirement during their working years. Having access to those health benefits are vital to our retiree who live on fixed incomes. Altering or taking away those health benefits is devastating to the quality of life of our seniors. I’m working to stop these unfair cuts, because retiree health care benefits must be protected by law.
