Arkansas Delegation Announces $603,774
in Grants for Rural Fire Protection
 
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln, along with U.S. Representatives Marion Berry (D-1), Vic Snyder (D-2) and John Boozman (R-3) announced today that rural fire departments in Arkansas have been awarded $603,774 in grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

 

This program provides support to fire departments by providing the tools and resources necessary to ensure both the safety of department personnel and the general public. 

 

The Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety Program includes training, wellness and fitness, firefighting equipment, personal protective equipment, and modifications to fire stations and facilities.  The following departments have been awarded grants for Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety:

 

·        Water Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Imboden, AR - $31,500

·        Norfork Volunteer Fire Department, Norfork, AR - $125,530

·        Parkin Fire Department, Parkin, AR - $225,000

·        Stony Point Volunteer Fire Department, Houston, AR - $39,977

·        Eureka Springs Fire Department, Eureka Springs, AR - $181,767

 

These awards are part of the 28th round of grant announcements.
