Berry, Arkansas Delegation Announces More Than $1.3 Million in Airport Improvement Projects
 
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, along with U.S. Reps. Marion Berry, Vic Snyder, John Boozman and Mike Ross announced today that five municipal airports in Arkansas have been awarded $1,365,700 in grants from the Department of Transportation.

 

The grants, provided by the Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration, will allow the regional airports to conduct studies and surveys, make necessary safety improvements, fund future planning initiatives, and update and rehabilitate existing equipment. 

 

The following airports in Arkansas First Congressional District have been awarded grants: 

 

  • $998,634         Sharp County Regional Airport to rehabilitate a runway, widen a runway, and improvement the runway safety area and runway lighting;
  • $150,000         Blytheville Municipal Airport to install taxiway lighting and a parallel.

 

Other Arkansas airports receiving funds:

 

  • $58,955           Magnolia Municipal Airport to conduct various studies and surveys including an environmental assessment study.  Funds will also provide for necessary equipment updates;

 

  • $75,000           Morrilton Municipal Airport to update master plan of airport and conduct environmental study;

 

  • $83,111           Clarksville Municipal Airport to rehabilitate the runway apron;
