WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Marion Berry (D-AR, 1st) along with Senators Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln announced $197,400 in grants to Poinsett County for improvements to Marked Tree Municipal Airport.
“Infrastructure is the lifeblood of rural America,” Berry said. “Improving our rural airports is a necessary step as the counties of Arkansas’ First Congressional District continue to be a place families and businesses want to stay and grow.”
The grants come from the Federal Aviation Administration and cover a variety of improvements:
Poinsett County Marked Tree Municipal Airport will receive $197,400 to acquire land to prevent encroachment by incompatible land uses and development in the future Runway 18 Runway Protection Zone (RPZ); acquire property for both the Runway 18 and 36 approaches; acquire land for development needed to construct a parallel taxiway and expand the existing apron; and acquire property needed to widen the runway.
