WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Marion Berry (D-AR, 1st), along with Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, today announced that the city of Marion will receive $1.5 million in federal funds to help pave the way for a new automobile parts plant.
Japanese automaker, Hino Motors Ltd., a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation, announced plans last week to build a new parts plant in Marion.
The funding, which all three members of Congress worked to secure, is being awarded as a federal grant from the Economic Development Administration and will allow Marion to make necessary infrastructure upgrades and improvements to a 160 acre lot, designated as the future site of the new parts plant.
“The location of the new Hino plant in Marion is another example of the positive outcome of Rural American work ethic," Berry said. "I am pleased for Marion, Crittenden County and Arkansas' First Congressional District as it continues to be a place where families and businesses want to stay and grow."
