WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Marion Berry (D-AR, 1st) along with Senators Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln announced $82,000 in grants today for improvements to Baxter County Regional Airport.
“Infrastructure is the lifeblood of rural America,” Berry said. “Improving our rural airports is a necessary step as the counties of Arkansas’ First Congressional District continue to be a place families and businesses want to stay and grow.”
The funds come from the Federal Aviation Administration and cover a variety of improvements related to the relocation of the old runway:
· Conduct an environmental assessment to study impacts associated with the relocation of the airport’s primary runway;
· Conduct an obstruction survey for the construction of a new runway.
