Congressman Marion Berry and Senators Lincoln and Pryor Announce Wheatley Police Department Funds

WASHINGTON – United States Representative Marion Berry (D-AR, 1st) and U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) and Mark Pryor (D-AR) today announced a grant awarded to the city of Wheatley in St. Francis County for the purchase of needed police equipment.

The grant, part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Project, is worth $34,050 and includes monies for two early warning sirens. A similar grant was approved last year in the amount of $11,250.

“I am pleased that the USDA has recognized Wheatley’s police department with this much needed grant,” said Rep. Berry. “I am confident that Mayor Larry Nash will utilize these funds well and allow the Wheatley police department to continue to serve and protect its citizens with the professionalism we have all come to expect.”
