Representative Berry with Senators Lincoln and Pryor Announce Nearly $300,000 For Head Start Projects

 
WASHINGTON – United States Representative Marion Berry, with Senators Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln, today announced multiple Head Start grants awarded to Arkansas’ first district.

 

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services grants would go to regional Head Start programs in Mississippi and Craighead Counties. The grants will cover cost-of-living increases for Head Start teachers and general quality improvement funds that include monies to train Head Start teachers.

 

Jonesboro, AR (Craighead County)

·                    The Jonesboro Head Start program is in its 36th year and serves 1,415 students. This year the program will receive $160,397.

 

Blytheville, AR (Mississippi County)

·                    The Blytheville Head Start program is in its 38th year and services 818 students. This year the program will receive $134,523.
