Arkansas Delegation Announces More Than $300,000
in Grants for Rural Fire Protection
 
WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressmen Marion Berry (D-AR, 1st) and Mike Ross (D-AR, 4th) along with U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln announced today that multiple fire departments in Arkansas have been awarded $333,083 in grants from Department of Homeland Defense’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Fire Prevention and Safety Grant (FP&S) program.

 

The Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety Program includes training, wellness and fitness, firefighting equipment, personal protective equipment, and modifications to fire stations and facilities.  The following departments have been awarded grants:

 

·        Wynne Fire Department; Wynne, AR - $86,500 for a firefighting vehicle

·        Fair Oaks Volunteer Fire Department; McCrory, AR - $67,896 for operations and firefighter safety

·        Cherokee Village Fire Department; Cherokee Village, AR - $131,050 for a firefighting vehicle

·        Berlin Volunteer Fire Department; Hamburg, AR - $47,287 for operations and firefighter safety
