WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, along with U.S. Reps. Marion Berry, Mike Ross, and Vic Snyder announced Friday that the U.S. Department of Transportation has approved aviation grants for improvements to three Arkansas airports.
Dexter B. Florence Memorial Field in Arkadelphia will receive $58,500 to acquire land for a runway protection zone to enhance safety for pilots and passengers as they approach the airport.
The Forrest City Municipal Airport will receive $225,038 to install perimeter fencing, enhancing the safety and security of the airport. The funding will also help to repair the rotating beacon and to install a new runway guidance system to aid pilots as they land at Forrest City.
Adams Field in Little Rock will receive $2,812,110 for an environmental assessment of upcoming airport projects, an update to the airport’s Master Plan, airport security enhancements, and the relocation of Roosevelt Road to make way for the future extension of a runway.
