Delegation Announces $298,100 in COPS Grants

 
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor along with U.S. Representatives Marion Berry, Mike Ross and Vic Snyder today announced Arkansas will receive $298,100 through Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Secure Our Schools program, which provides funds to improve security at schools and on school grounds.

 

The Secure Our Schools program will provide up to 50 percent of the total cost for municipalities to install metal detectors, locks, lighting, and other equipment to help deter crime.  The grants can also be used to pay half of the cost of security assessments, security training, and other measures that will provide a significant improvement in security.  The following have been awarded grants:

 

First Congressional District:

 

·        City of Cabot - $58,100

 

Second Congressional District:

 

·        Benton Police Department - $25,000

·        Conway Police Department - $50,000

·        Saline County Sheriff’s Department - $70,000

 

Fourth Congressional District:

 

·        City of Hot Springs - $50,000

·        Texarkana Police Department - $45,000
