Arkansas Delegation Announces $74,339 in Grants for Rural Fire Protection 
 
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, along with U.S. Reps. Marion Berry and John Boozman announced today that rural fire departments in Arkansas have been awarded $74,339 in grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

 

This program provides support to fire departments by providing the tools and resources necessary to ensure both the safety of department personnel and the general public. 

 

The Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety Program includes training, wellness and fitness, firefighting equipment, personal protective equipment, and modifications to fire stations and facilities.  The following departments have been awarded grants for Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety:

 

·                    Evening Shad Volunteer Fire Department; Evening Shade, AR - $30,146

·                    Barling Fire Department; Barling, AR - $2,313

·                    City of Altus Volunteer Fire Department; Altus, AR - $41,940

 

These awards are part of the 23rd round of grant announcements.
