Arkansas Delegation Announces $1,679,751
in Grants for Rural Fire Protection
 
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, along with U.S. Reps. Marion Berry (D-1), John Boozman (R-3), Mike Ross (D-4) and Vic Snyder (D-2) announced today that rural fire departments in Arkansas have been awarded $1,679,751 in grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

 

This program provides support to fire departments by providing the tools and resources necessary to ensure both the safety of department personnel and the general public. 

 

The Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety Program includes training, wellness and fitness, firefighting equipment, personal protective equipment, and modifications to fire stations and facilities.  The following departments have been awarded grants for Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety:

 

·                    Brookland Volunteer Fire Protection District; Brookland, AR - $79,962

·                    Byron Volunteer Fire Department; Salem, AR - $115,604

·                    Earle Fire Department; Earle, AR - $162,000

·                    Sunnyland Rural Fire Department; Mountain View, AR - $43,233

·                    Swifton Volunteer Fire Department; Swifton, AR - $139,740

·                    Ward Volunteer Fire Department; Ward, AR - $82,422

·                    North Little Rock Fire Department; North Little Rock, AR - $29,120

·                    Atkins Fire Department; Atkins, AR - $63,000

·                    Little Flock; Rogers, AR - $191,484

·                    Pea Ridge Rural Fire Department; Atkins, AR - $20,142

·                    Altheimer Volunteer Fire Department; Altheimer, AR - $192,600

·                    Bingen Volunteer Fire Department; Nashville, AR - $88,022

·                    Booneville City Fire Department; Booneville, AR - $84,330

·                    Dumas Volunteer Fire Department; Dumas, AR - $54,063

·                    Kingsland Volunteer Fire Department; Kingsland, AR - $22,179
