WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Marion Berry (D-AR, 1st), along with Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, today announced multiple fire departments in Arkansas’ First Congressional District will receive $582,475 in grants from the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Fire Prevention and Safety Grant (FP&S) program.
The Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety Program include training, wellness and fitness, firefighting equipment, personal protective equipment, and modifications to fire stations and facilities. The following departments have been awarded grants:
First Congressional District:
· Cove Creek-Pearson Fire Department; Quitman, AR - $112,500 for a Firefighting Vehicle
· Evening Shade Volunteer Fire Department.; Evening Shade, AR - $146,475 for a Firefighting Vehicle
· Barton Rural Fire Company, Inc; Lexa, AR - $193,000 for a Firefighting Vehicle
· Sturkie Volunteer Fire Department; Sturkie, AR - $130,500 for a Firefighting Vehicle
