WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln, along with U.S. Representatives Marion Berry (D-1), Vic Snyder (D-2), John Boozman (R-3) and Mike Ross (D-4) announced today that rural fire departments in Arkansas have been awarded $365,348 in grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
This program provides support to fire departments by providing the tools and resources necessary to ensure both the safety of department personnel and the general public.
The Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety Program includes training, wellness and fitness, firefighting equipment, personal protective equipment, and modifications to fire stations and facilities. The following departments have been awarded grants for Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety:

· Saddle Fire Department, Mammoth Spring, AR - $13,860
· Melbourne Volunteer Fire Department, Melbourne, AR - $46,800
· Sylvan Hills Fire Protection #6, Sherwood, AR - $45,270
· Pleasant View Fire Department, Ozark, AR - $35,636
· Butterfield District 5 Volunteer Fire Department, Van Buren, AR - $36,900
· Watson Area Volunteer Fire Department, Watson, AR - $67,777
· DeAnn Volunteer Fire Department, Hope, AR - $34,983
· Texarkana Arkansas Fire Department, Texarkana, AR - $71,181
