WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, along with Representative Marion Berry (AR-01) announced today that Arkansas State University secured $1.8 million from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) to construct a new facility on campus for the Delta Center for Economic Development.
The grant will enable ASU to design and construct a building for the College of Business' Delta Center for Economic Development. These funds will help create jobs and stimulate private investment in the Delta. The EDA grant is expected to generate more than $13.5 million in private investment.
“The Delta Center for Economic Development provides critical services throughout the Delta region -- from helping individuals obtain the professional tools and know-how they need to succeed in the workplace to helping small businesses compete in the global marketplace,” Senator Lincoln said. “I am pleased to help announce this funding so the Center can continue its important mission of strengthening our communities throughout the Delta.”
“The outreach and success of the Delta Center for Economic Development will be further enhanced through this funding, and I look forward to the new investment and jobs that will be generated in the Delta as a result,” Senator Pryor said.
“This brand-new center for economic development is the beginning of great opportunities for Arkansas’ Delta,” Congressman Berry said. “This center is an investment in our students, our industries, and in the future of our community. I am pleased to see Arkansas State University secure these funds and continue its work to shape the changing face of Arkansas’ Delta.”
The Delta Center for Economic Development coordinates the economic development outreach services of ASU and provides a coordinated and comprehensive approach to serving the businesses, governments and citizens of the Arkansas Delta.
