WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and Representative Marion Berry announced today that Western Greene County Regional Water District will receive a $459,000 Rural Development grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Western Greene County Regional Water District also will receive a $377,000 loan from USDA. The funds will be used to expand the existing water system to serve 100 additional users.

"These federal dollars will help provide critical water infrastructure improvements that will support growth in the region," said Lincoln. “I commend the Western Greene County Regional Water District for working to secure these significant Rural Development investments to provide water service to more users."
“Access to clean, affordable water is vital to the health and economic well-being of Greene County residents,” said Pryor. “I applaud local leaders for seeking these funds and ensuring that critical investments in our infrastructure are completed.”

USDA Rural Development grants support public facilities and services, promote economic development, and offer technical assistance to help address the diverse and unique needs of rural communities.
