Berry, Lincoln, & Pryor Announce over $2.6 Million for Area Airports

WASHINGTON – Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, along with U.S. Representative Marion Berry (D-AR, 1st) announced today that the 1st Congressional District will receive $2,628,878 from the Federal Aviation Administration to make improvements at local airports. The grants were awarded to five airports in Northeast Arkansas.

“Our local airports should be as safe and technologically advanced as possible, and I'm pleased that these five Arkansas airports are receiving this important funding,” Senator Lincoln said. “Airport improvement funds are critical to keeping our local airports modern, and they're a vital economic development tool for our communities.”

“This funding will go a long way toward keeping our local airports running efficiently and safely. It’s also a necessary investment to make as we seek to build the economy in Northeast Arkansas,” Senator Pryor said.

“Investing in our airports is one of the best ways to build a strong economy in Northeast Arkansas," said Congressman Berry. "The more money we put into our transportation network, the greater our return, as new businesses recognize the potential for growth here in our state."
