WASHINGTON – Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, along with U.S. Representative Marion Berry (D-AR, 1st) announced today that the 1st Congressional District will receive $2,194,012 from the Federal Aviation Administration to make improvements at local airports. The grants were awarded to five airports throughout the region.
The Federal Aviation Administration grants include:
Arkansas County
Stuttgart Municipal will receive $1,149,500 to preserve and extend the useful life of this critical airport pavement.
DeWitt Municipal will receive $126,250 to increase the airport's ability to accommodate the parking of based aircraft and itinerant aircraft.
Clay County
Corning Municipal Airport will receive $150,000 to construct apron pavement needed to access an aircraft storage hangar on the airport.
Lee County
Steve Edwards Field in Marianna will receive $451,250 to construct taxiway pavement that will eliminate the need for back-taxiing on the runway.
Lonoke County
Carlisle Municipal Airport will receive $317,012 to extend the useful life of the taxiway pavement.
