Arkansas Delegation Announces $7,986 for the Horseshoe Bend Fire and Rescue Department

 
 
WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Marion Berry  (D-AR, 1st) Senators Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln, along with Congressman Marion Berry (AR-01) announced today that the Horseshoe Bend Fire and Rescue Department will receive $7,986 in funds for fire operations and safety from the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. Today's announcement is the sixth round of Fiscal Year 2005 fire grants.

 

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program awards one-year grants to help fire departments improve firefighting operations, strengthen firefighter health and safety programs, and establish or expand fire prevention programs throughout the country. These funds are part of the $650 million Congress approved for 2005 to support fire departments nationwide. The Department of Homeland Security’s Office of State and Local Government Coordination and Preparedness administers the program, in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.
