WASHINGTON – Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor, along with Congressman Marion Berry (AR-01) announced today that the Wynne Fire Department will receive $95,647 for firefighter operations and safety from the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. Today's announcement was included in Round 1 of the competitive FY2005 Fire Grants supplemental award announcements. These awards are administered by the Department's Office of Grants and Training in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program awards one-year grants to help fire departments improve firefighting operations, strengthen firefighter health and safety programs, and establish or expand fire prevention programs throughout the country. These funds are part of the $650 million Congress approved for 2005 to support fire departments nationwide.
