With the Senate expected to take up amnesty legislation on the floor this week, and similar amnesty proposals such as the STRIVE Act already introduced in the House, I introduced H. RES. 351, a resolution to help deter illegal immigration, reject amnesty, and restore the rule of law in our country. This resolution will send a strong message to Speaker Pelosi that it would be irresponsible for House leadership to bring any amnesty legislation to the floor of the House for consideration until our existing immigration laws are strengthened and vigorously enforced.

H. RES. 351, is a straightforward resolution that expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that federal authorities should strengthen and vigorously enforce all existing immigration laws, and calls on Congress to reject consideration of any legislation which would grant amnesty to illegal aliens currently residing in the United States until all existing laws are enforced.

The simple truth is that until we enforce the federal immigration laws already on the books, it is irresponsible for Congress to even consider any legislation that would grant amnesty to the estimated 12-20 million illegal aliens currently residing in the United States.

Additional provisions also express concern regarding sanctuary policies that encourage illegal immigration, calls on state and local law enforcement officials to report all immigration violation to the Department of Homeland Security and calls for increased cooperation between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in enforcing existing immigration laws. The text of the resolution and a dear colleague are attached to this email.
