Newton, MA – Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA), Chairman of the House Committee on Financial Services, today announced that the committee will hold a field hearing to discuss patterns of mortgage lending in the Greater Boston Area. The hearing will focus on mortgage lending disparities in the Boston area, including data that reveals that Black and Latino borrowers were much more likely than whites or Asians in this area to receive higher-priced loans.
“The data showing serious housing discrimination in the granting of mortgages in Boston is very troubling and must be addressed. This hearing will do that,” said Chairman Frank.
