Amount Requested: $4,592,000 The funding will be used by the Town of Cedar Lake to complete Phase 2 of the 133rd Avenue widening and reconstruction project. The project will begin at the intersection of West 133rd Avenue and continue to US Route 41 (Wicker Avenue), a total of 2,350 feet. Funding will be used for environmental review, reconstruction of the road, construction of sidewalks, installation of roadway lighting and other safety enhancements, and installation of stormwater drainage improvements. This project will provide significant regional benefits, as 133rd Avenue is the most heavily traversed road in Cedar Lake and also will provide a key connection between US 41, Crown Point, and areas south and east of Cedar Lake. The project will relieve congestion, improve vehicle and pedestrian safety, and encourage economic development by increasing access to Cedar Lake’s industrial and commercial corridor. Further, the project will provide stormwater detention and treatment, reducing the number of surface pollutants entering the watershed.
