Amount Requested: $2,216,000
The funding will be used by the Town of DeMotte to widen and reconstruct Division Street, which will provide for a safer and more efficient road. The project will include construction plan design, construction engineering, acquiring right-of-way, installation of stormwater sewer system, construction of sidewalks, and reconstruction of the road. Division Street is currently only 18 feet in width, closely bordered by large ditches and utility lines, and does not have sidewalks. This configuration results in significant safety issues for pedestrians and vehicles. The widening of the roadway and installation of pedestrian walkways will increase safety and ease congestion on one of the town’s major east-west thoroughfares.
