Plan, design, engineer, reconstruct, and rehabilitate Calumet Avenue, Dyer, IN

Amount Requested: $2,880,000
The funding will be used by the Town of Dyer to plan, design, construct, and conduct construction engineering for the rehabilitation of Calumet Avenue from US Route 30 to 77th Avenue.  The project will reconstruct the existing pavement to include a two way left turn lane, replace the drainage system, and construct new sidewalks.  The project has regional significance because Calumet Avenue, in conjunction with 77th Avenue, provides an alternate route to US Routes 41 and 30.  The existing roadway consists of two lanes and its expansion will give the road the capacity to relieve congestion on these two major US Routes.   Further, the addition of the two-way left turn lane will allow for safer vehicular movement and increase traffic flow, which results in reduced emissions and improved fuel efficiency in vehicles.
Recipient Address: Town of Dyer, One Town Square, Dyer, IN 46311
