Amount Requested: $7,200,000 The funds will be used by the City of Gary to complete Phase 2 of the reconstruction of Ridge Road. The project will expand Ridge Road into a four-lane roadway from Broadway west to Grant Street. Also channelization, curbs, lighting, sidewalks, and new Light Emitting Diode (LED) traffic lights will be installed. Ridge Road is the nearest east-west alternate route to the heavily travelled Borman Expressway (Interstate 80/94) and this project will make the road a more viable congestion reliever. This project will improve surface water runoff characteristics through the installation of storm sewers that adhere to Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) standards. Currently, significant rain events result in standing water that inhibits traffic flow and raises public safety concerns. Further, this project will make the Ridge Road corridor more desirable for commercial and residential development. Recipient Address: City of Gary, 401 Broadway, Gary, IN 46402 |
