Amount Requested: $8,160,000
The funding will be used by the City of Hammond to make improvements to three stretches of road, collectively known as the Entrance Corridor Improvement Project. These roadways include Indianapolis Boulevard from the Little Calumet River to 174th Street, Kennedy Avenue from Interstate 80/94 to 173rd Street, and Indianapolis Boulevard from Casino Center Drive to the Illinois State Line. Activities that will be undertaken include design, construction of roadways and landscape improvements. The project will enhance the appeal of the city at these three interchanges with one of the highest volume interstate corridors in the nation. Further, the new roadway surfaces will improve surface traction and decrease accidents.
