Amount Requested: $660,000
The funding will be used by the Town of Lowell to rehabilitate Nichols Street and Mill Street from State Road 2 to the town’s north corporate boundary. This work will include both full and partial pavement replacement and the construction of curbs, gutters and handicap ramps where needed. The project will increase safety by providing a more stable roadway surface and ensure that lane widths are sufficient for safe clearances. In addition to improving safety, this project will allow the roadways to better handle the ever increasing volume of vehicles travelling through the town. By lessening traffic backups and queuing issues, vehicle emissions in the area will be reduced.
