Plan, conduct environmental analysis, and conduct alternatives analysis for the extension of Willowcreek Road, Porter County, IN

Amount Requested: $600,000
The funds will be used by Porter County to plan, conduct environmental analysis, and conduct alternatives analysis for the proposed extension of Willowcreek Road from County Road 700 North to US Route 30.  The extension of Willowcreek Road to US 30 will provide the county with a significant north/south arterial, which will link to important east/west roadways such as US Highways 12 and 6, Interstates 94 and 80/90, State Road 130 and US 30.  Currently SR 49 is the only north/south roadway that provides such connectivity.  Furthermore, Willowcreek Road will serve the growing population areas of the City of Portage as well as the industry and recreation areas along Lake Michigan.  The first phase of the project would include planning and analysis tasks to prepare a Scoping Report (Engineer’s Report), which will include work tasks such as development of traffic projections, route alternative analysis, conceptual typical sections, identification of anticipated public right-of-way required, early coordination with environmental entities and utilities, subsurface geotechnical exploration, public involvement, identifying phases for further project development and development of opinion of probable project costs.  Following phases of project development will make use of this Scoping Report to develop design documents.
Recipient Address: Porter County Board of Commissioners, 155 Indiana Avenue, Suite 25, Valparaiso, IN 46383
