Plan, design, conduct environmental review, engineer, acquire right-of-way, and construct a citywide network of bicycle and pedestrian trails, Rensselaer, IN

Amount Requested: $2,000,000
The funding will be used by the City of Rensselaer to construct a city-wide bicycle/walking path that will be conducive for health and exercise programs.  The planning and design engineering for the path have been completed.  The project will provide a paved walkway, signage, rest areas, restroom facilities, water fountains, and sufficient lighting in darkened areas.  The project will improve pedestrian safety and traffic flow in the town by providing exercising citizens an alternative to walking on streets and sidewalks.  The community will benefit from the creation of a sage and natural environmental setting, which could create an attraction for tourists and the utilization of healthy community programs.
Recipient Address: City of Rensselaer, 124 South Van Rensselaer Street, Post Office Box 280, Rensselaer, IN 47978
