Amount Requested: $320,000 The funding will be used by the Town of Winfield to remove abandoned abutments on the Erie Lakawana Railroad and the realignment of 125th Avenue as it approaches Randolph Street. The project limits will be Randolph Street from a point 100 feet south of 125th Avenue to a point 300 feet north of 125th Avenue, and on 125th Avenue from a point 350 feet west of Randolph Street to the Randolph Street intersection. Activities that will be undertaken include design engineering, right-of-way engineering and acquisition, construction and construction engineering. The removal of the abandoned railroad abutments and re-alignment of 125th Avenue will improve vehicle sight distance, which will equate to a reduction of vehicle accidents. Improvement to this intersection will lend itself to better traffic flow as development continues in the area. Further, the removal of the railroad abutments will allow Randolph Street to remain a free flowing artery. If the abutments were to remain, it would be necessary in the foreseeable future to install stop signs that would delay traffic and increase vehicle emissions. Recipient Address: Town of Winfield, 10645 Randolph Street, Winfield, IN 46307 |
