Digital TV Transition Postponed Until June 12, 2009

The Congress approved and the President signed into a law a bill that will postpone the date of the digital television transition from February 17, 2009 to June 12, 2009.  By that date, all full-power television stations, such as ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, and PBS affiliates, must broadcast in digital format only.

The law permits households with expired converter box coupons to apply for new ones.  And, under the law, households will now have until July 31, 2009, to apply for coupons.
