CONGRESSMAN DAVIS, MAYOR JONES, STAND AND
DEFEND AIR FORCE TANKER PROJECT IN MOBILE

WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Artur Davis (D-Ala.) is scheduled to join Mobile Mayor Sam Jones and a delegation of supporters from the Mobile area as they stand in support of the Air Force refueling tanker project awarded recently to Northrop Grumman/EADS.  This press conference is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. EDT in Room 402 of the Cannon House Office Building.

Mayor Jones is scheduled to lead a delegation from Mobile to Washington, D. C. Tuesday as they seek to rally support to maintain the $40 billion tanker project in Alabama’s port city.

Congressman Davis recently offered his support of the project in an opinion piece in the Mobile Press-Register published March 9th.  Congressman Davis, whose congressional district includes Clarke County and other potential supplier locations, noted that if the issue comes to a vote on the House floor, “I will be standing with my state regardless of the politics in Washington.”
